I Want To Tell You
by Leslie Jacobson & Roy Barber
I Want to Tell You is a 45 minute musical play promoting tolerance, safe schools, and combating homophobia. This unforgettable musical is designed to fit into a school day or within an event and is available for on-site performances. Created to inspire dialogue around self-acceptance and tolerance, the play focuses on the special vulnerability of gay students and teachers in today's high schools. Created through a process of acting and writing workshops with youth at the Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League (SMYAL) and a variety of interviews with lesbian and gay teachers, this musical is a powerful cry for new alliances to form between the straight and GLBT community. After each performance workshops will be available led by representatives of SMYAL on youth issues, and PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) on family issues, and Horizons Theatre on creating theatre from real life.
I Want to Tell You is now in its fourth year of touring high schools and community organizations, and is available for booking through the Horizons’ office.
