Horizons Theatre: theatre from a woman's perspective

There's a well-known phrase "That takes . . . . " that refers to a courageous, defiant, or strong act taken by a man. Well, everyone knows that women are strong, take risks, and make powerful choices for themselves. Horizons' show, That Takes Ovaries!, will look at some of these personal statements of strength . . . from a woman's perspective. That Takes Ovaries is a world premiere based on stories from the newly published book, That Takes Ovaries!: Bold Females and their Brazen Acts edited by Rivka Solomon. The book is a collection of true stories written by women standing up for themselves, their rights, their bodies and their beliefs. Some of the stories are poignant, some are outrageously funny, others irreverent. This world premiere will dramatize some of these experiences. The show may include monologues, scenes involving several characters, and music and songs.

The book, That Takes Ovaries, presents 64 brave, unabashed, fun-loving women and their short stories of strength and audacity. That Takes Ovaries rejects the notion of how females should behave and instead boldly declares "look what I just did."
