Horizons Theatre: theatre from a woman's perspective

Losing Lawrence is a dark comedy written by Washington, D.C. playwright Donna Gerdin. Developed at Horizons Theatre over the last two years, Losing Lawrence takes place five years after the death of the famed writer D.H. Lawrence. The play explores the complicated relationship between his widow Frieda, and her two best friends. Unexpected secrets and conflicts emerge as these women vie for possession of the famous writer's ashes . . . and memory. The play is set in Taos, New Mexico where D.H. Lawrence and Frieda maintained a home.



Losing Lawrence was directed by veteran director Dorothy Neumann. The cast includes Brilane Bowman as Frieda, D.H. Lawrence's wife and Katrina Van Duyn as Mabel Luhan and Rosemary Regan as Dorothy Brett, her friends. Arthur Rosenberg plays Nick Allen, a local reporter.
