The Mother/Daughter Project
Coming soon

Mothers and daughters: Is there any relationship more complex or powerful? Every daughter has powerful feelings about her mother. And acts just like her mother . . . or finds herself rebelling and making different life choices. Or, even if she hasn't believed she has been close, finds herself looking or acting just like her mother as the years go on. On the other side, every mother has struggled with her daughter, and tried to understand her life choices. And experienced intense love and joy as her daughter has grown. Psychologists and therapists spend years with their patients talking about this close and intense relationship. Books have been written, plays have been written, and yet the power of this profound and universal bond affects us all.

The Mother/Daughter Project will look at this relationship with another twist. Each mother has emigrated to America from another country and each daughter is trying to become an assimilated American. Several playwrights are being commissioned to write one-act plays for this project.

The Mother/Daughter Project will be performed in Spring 2006. Location to be announced.
